10 Ways to Naturally Take Care of Your Skin
Taking Care of Your Skin: The Natural Way
Over the years, I've advised clients on how to manage various skin diseases and develop a routine of taking care of their aging skin. After helping dozens of individuals with their skin care goals, I've collected a handful of tips that can be used across all skin care needs. These will ensure naturally beautiful and healthy skin.
Whether you are suffering from psoraisis or you simply desire healthier and clearer skin, these tips will help you take care of your skin the way your skin deserves.
10 Ways to Naturally Take Care of Your Skin
1. Stay Hydrated
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Over half of your body is made of water and if you don't drink enough of it, your skin cells will dry up, die, and slough off.
2. Avoid Getting Too Much Sun
Exposing your skin to sunlight is important for Vitamin D, but too much of a good thing can cause damage. If you are going to be in full sun longer than 15 minutes, apply a safe and non-toxic sunscreen.
3. Eat Healthy Fats
Healthy fats are used in every cell of your body. Want beautiful shimmering skin? Eat beautiful shiny oils that are full of omega 3 fatty acids. My favorites are fish oil capsules and sardines.
4. Eat Antioxidant-rich Food
Eat your way to clearer and more beautiful skin. Antioxidants, found in whole foods, will destroy toxins that cause fine lines and sagging. Salmon and blueberries top the list for the strongest antioxidant foods.
5. Skip the Sugar
Sugar and high carbohydrate foods cause free radicals which make your skin both dry and wrinkled.
6. Use Natural Moisturizers
Don't try to fix dry skin with parabens and other chemicals. Use natural moisturizers like shea butter or coconut oil.
7. Take Collagen
Collagen is the material that our bodies use to keep skin looking plump and soft. My favorite source of collagen is homemade bone broth or Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides.
8. Sweat Out The Toxins
Sweat out the toxins. Cleaning your skin is an important way to keep it healthy. But the best way to clear the dermis is a full sweat. Try a sauna or a short intense workout to get the sweat rolling and the toxins moving out.
9. Blood Flow
Have you ever bent over and experienced all of the blood rushing to your head? This is actually a great exercise for your skin. As you increase blood-flow to your head, more blood arrives to nourish skin cells. Try downward dog or an inversion table to flood your skin cells with more nourishing blood.
10. If All Else Fails, Take a Nap
When all else fails, take a nap. Sleep is so important for rejuvenating your entire body. Dark circles under your eyes are a sure sign that you aren't getting the sleep that your skin needs.
